produced slowly and meticulously over the last 12 months, these seven tracks are the closet thing we have had to a new album from andy stott since the release of his debut full-length merciless five years ago. taking influence from an array of seemingly incoherent noises, from the indefinable and unforgettable mind- tricks of arthur russell to the slowhouse of kassem mosse, from the alternate vhs realities of james ferraro and jamal moss to the linn drum classics of the vintage prince era - these seven tracks create their own pace and agenda, largely shying away from the dancefloor in favour of something more complex and hard to define.

clandestine techno/house imprint, meanwhile records reveals a one-off opus from two highly respected techno producers, niels luinenberg (delta funktionen) and samuel van dijk (mohlao). the deeply mystical >inward content< session represents the leuwarden sound of their native north holland (also former home to another master of hypnotic repetition ((of the graphic type)), m.c. escher) with an elegant, classically informed and deeply refined brand of 4/4 also identified on celebrated 12inches for ann aimee and delsin. the albums six tracks use an economical production palette, but we wouldnt call them minimal. the emphasis is on subtly monotone melodic shades, from the rippling black masses of bass which power each track, to the bluest hued pads and unfathomably expansive atmospheres which lend them their spectral grace. listening to this album is almost a mystical experience, like hearing the results of a seance conducted in low-lit surroundings calling upon the spirits of basic channel, convextion and the black dog circa 1995. >inward content< took over two years to assemble and techno connoisseurs can clearly discern why. recommended!

wild rumpus is bitches brew head honcho colleen cosmo murphy (cosmodelica / classic album sundays) and former captain beefheart axeman and jeff buckley collaborator gary lucas. with wild rumpus they bring together seemingly contradictory sounds such as disco, rock, surf music, blues, dub and country while enlisting some extraordinary talent along the way. his latest effort is the most indulgent wild rumpus song yet and is somewhat of a cross between ashra temple and giorgio moroder clocking in at an epic 12 minutes. the remix is courtesy of mudd and has balearic classic written all over it. the single also includes an instrumental version of >tikkety-boo< which is a preview to the vocal version with lambchops kurt wagner which will be featured on the album.
